Abstract

To make full use of surplus electricity at night and even off the peak electric demands in the daytime, a residence(the Clean Energy House) with the earth heat storage system and the photovoltaic system is being developed in Kumamoto City, Kyushu Island. The thermal performance of the earth heat storage system including the house is predicted by numerical simulations. The performance of the solar cells installed on the roof of the house is predicted with the regression equations from some experimental studies conducted by the authors. It is predicted that the house can be air-conditioned only by surplus electricity at night. The other electric demands such as lighting, cooking etc. can be met by the photovoltaic system.
