Abstract

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation provides an efficient tool for investigating the interacting many-body problems of fluid–solid boundary. Recent studies with MD are extended on the slip and no-slip conditions. We present a Langevin MD investigation of the dynamics of fluid monolayer on a quenched substrate. At a low temperature, a sharp crossover from elastic to plastic depinnings is found with an increase in the strength of substrate. This is helpful for understanding the slip and no-slip conditions of fluids at molecularly rough surfaces.
