A Monte Carlo study of subdiffusive displacements of interacting particles in a percolating system

Abstract

A computer-simulation model is introduced to study the transport properties of interacting particles of concentration p in a percolating system near the percolation threshold. A nearest neighbor interaction is considered among the particles and the accessible sites of the percolating substrate. The transport behviour is found to be concentration p and temperature (T) limited in a specific p-T regime. The subdiffusive behaviour at high temperatures seems consistent with the anomalous diffusion of a noninteracting lattice gas. The rms displacement seems consistent with the anomalous diffusion of a noninteracting lattice gas. The rms displacement of the particles (Rtr) exhibits ultra-slow power-law diffusion at low temperatures at a moderate concentration p. The rms displacement of the center of mass of the particles (Rcm) on the other hand shows a diffusion like power-law behaviour before it saturates in a certain temperature regime.
