Abstract

Formulae for the electro-magnetic constitutive coefficients are derived in terms of the interfacial position autocorrelation function. Explicit expressions for these coefficients are then found in terms of e.g. the surface tension and the capillary length. The ellipsometric coefficient is expressed in these constitutive coefficients and a comparison with recent experiments by Beaglehole is made.
