Abstract

In this paper, we present the modeling of the work water section of a power plant group. The mathematical model is based on the Saint–Venant equations and the nonlinear partial differential equations for the one-dimensional pipe flow. The model has to deal with a special coupling between an open channel and a pipe flow. With appropriate assumptions the model can be reduced significantly, so that the final model consists of a coupling of nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations. A comparison of measurement results with simulation results shows the good practical exactness of the proposed model.
