The impact of digital intelligent development on agricultural ecological efficiency: Evidence from China

Abstract

In the current digital intelligent development (ADI) process, traditional industry is gradually recreated. As basis of all industries, agriculture also ushered in digital intelligent transformation. Based on target of green agriculture and low-carbon, this paper discusses digital intelligent development impact (ADI) on agricultural ecological efficiency (AEE) and its mechanism of action. We used the data of prefecture-level cities in China from 2011 to 2023. The bidirectional fixed effect model was used in this study, supplemented by endogeneity test, robustness test, heterogeneity test and mediation effect test. We find advancement of digital intelligence in agriculture (ADI) has revealed substantial affirmative influence on agricultural ecological efficiency (AEE). The impact displays marked variability across various contextual environments. The conclusion persists with strength through range of meticulous examinations. Knowledge spillover (KS) and social service (SS) frameworks act as key mediating factors in this association. The research not only provides a reference for the indicators of digital intelligence in agriculture (ADI), but also research framework can help government effectively plan agricultural development, which is of practical significance.
