Abstract

IPV exposed families with young children (0–6 years) often deal with multiple complex and interrelated problems, including parents’ Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms, children’s PTSD symptoms, and problems in parenting behavior. Current integrative treatment approaches that focus on all these problems within families are lacking. The current study describes the development of a guidance document for therapists, to aid them in tailoring the order of attachment-based intervention, trauma therapy for parents, and trauma therapy for young children, to individual Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) exposed families’ needs.
