Abstract

Children visit emergency departments (EDs) for behavioral health reasons, but EDs are not ideal treatment settings. One alternative service is Mobile Crisis Intervention Services (MCIS), which provides children in crisis with a response in the community from a clinician. Research on MCIS is relatively limited; as such, it is important to look at how the service is being used. Roughly one-third of children who use Mobile Crisis will have a subsequent episode. Exploring repeated use of the service is important to understanding how MCIS is being used by children and families.
