Modern slavery due diligence: A framework for business

Abstract

Recent legislation that encourages businesses to call out modern slavery aspects of human trafficking practice and bring it to an end aims to increase business transparency and the exercise of due diligence. This article looks to overcome confusion for C-suite members over what due diligence means and what its focus should be. We develop a twin-track approach that outlines and then integrates inside-out and outside-in approaches toward due diligence, centered on addressing risks to people and reducing modern slavery risks to business.
