Analytical solution of a simulation model for wind turbines

Abstract

It is shown that a recently introduced model for wind turbine dynamics, having the form J(d[Omega]/dt) = g(V,[Omega]) - T, admits of an analytical solution during periods of constant windspeed, V, when the load torque has the parabolic form T = K[Omega]2. A certain function of the angular velocity turns out to be governed by a linear equation, characterised by a time constant. The special case of a model of Type 1 is shown to have a particularly simple solution.
