Gender and choice of methodology in tourism social science research

Abstract

•We analyzed gender and choice of methodology.•Male authors constituted more than 65% of all authors.•Linear effect indicated that time explained growth of male and female authors.•Quadratic effect indicated acceleration in female authorship.•Women researchers have a preference for qualitative research methods.
