Stärkere Diversifizierung der Importe von Gütern der Informationstechnologie: Vorteile überwiegen

Abstract

Die Bedeutung der internationalen Beschaffung von Vorleistungen hat in den zurückliegenden Dekaden zugenommen. Dies gilt auch für Güter aus dem Bereich der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (IKT), beispielsweise Mikrochips, die ein wichtiger Input in der heimischen Produktion sind und das Fundament einer digitalisierten Wirtschaft bilden. Die meisten Unternehmen setzen bei ihren Importen auf wenige Lieferländer; einige beschränken sich sogar auf ein einziges Bezugsland. Angesichts geopolitischer Risiken und um Abhängigkeiten zu senken, wird über eine stärkere Diversifizierung der Lieferländer diskutiert. Mithilfe von Daten für Unternehmen des Verarbeitenden Gewerbes wird der Zusammenhang zwischen der regionalen Diversifizierung von IKT-Güterimporten und dem Unternehmenserfolg untersucht. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich ein positiver Zusammenhang. Somit muss eine stärkere Diversifizierung nicht zwangsläufig zulasten der Unternehmen gehen. Die Politik sollte das Ziel einer stärkeren Resilienz entschlossen weiterverfolgen, während Unternehmen, die ihre IKT-Güter bisher einseitig beschaffen, diese Strategie überdenken sollten.
