Finanzbildung fördert finanzielle Inklusion in armen und reichen Ländern

Abstract

Moderne Gesellschaften profitieren aus sozialen und ökonomischen Gründen von der Teilhabe möglichst aller Menschen an finanziellen Dienstleistungen, das heißt von finanzieller Inklusion. Diese Studie zeigt in einem Ländervergleich, dass durch finanzielle Bildung der Bevölkerung die finanzielle Inklusion in einem Land gefördert wird. Dieser Zusammenhang geht über den Effekt von hoher ökonomischer oder finanzieller Entwicklung hinaus. Außerdem zeigt sich, dass der Effekt von hoher finanzieller Bildung auf die „Nutzung von Finanzprodukten“ am stärksten ist, wenn das Finanzsystem gut entwickelt ist. Dagegen ist der Bildungseffekt auf den „Zugang zu Finanzen“ für die Länder am größten, die finanziell weniger entwickelt sind. Eine auf finanzielle Inklusion abzielende Wirtschaftspolitik sollte sich deshalb nicht nur auf die finanzielle Infrastruktur konzentrieren, sondern auch die Verbesserung der finanziellen Bildung im Blick behalten.
