Brasilien, Russland, Indien, China und Südafrika: starkes Wirtschaftswachstum - große Herausforderungen

Abstract

Brasilien, Russland, Indien, China und Südafrika - die sogenannten BRICS - weisen hohe gesamtwirtschaftliche Zuwachsraten auf. Von den Turbulenzen der internationalen Finanzkrise 2008/2009 waren diese Lander nur kurzzeitig betroffen und konnten sich - anders als etliche Industrienationen - zügig erholen. Gerade in der aktuellen Situation wirtschaftlicher Fragilität der Industrienationen kommt den BRICS daher eine besondere Bedeutung für die weltwirtschaftliche Entwicklung zu. In ihrem wirtschaftlichen Aufholprozess setzen die einzelnen BRICS-Staaten auf unterschiedliche Strategien. Obwohl in den letzten Jahren erhebliche Wachstumserfolge erzielt wurden, ist eine deutliche Annäherung an das Einkommensniveau der wichtigsten Industrieländer jedoch auch mittelfristig kaum zu erwarten. Hinzu kommt, dass in den BRICS-Staaten nach wie vor erhebliche Defizite beim Zugang zu Bildung und bei den Gesundheitssystemen vorliegen. Gerade solche Infrastrukturprobleme können ein erhebliches Entwicklungshemmnis darstellen.
