Zahl der Pflegefälle wird deutlich steigen

Abstract

Bis 2020 wird die Zahl der Pflegebedürftigen um mehr als ein Drittel steigen; bis 2050 wird sie sich sogar mehr als verdoppelt haben. Dies geht auf die in die Jahre kommenden "Baby-Boomer" sowie die weiterhin steigende Lebenserwartung zurück. Außerdem wurde erst kürzlich der Kreis der Anspruchsberechtigten der Pflegeversicherung um die (bislang lediglich hilfsbedürftigen) Demenzkranken erweitert. Ganz ohne Zweifel stellt dies für die pflegenden Familienangehörigen eine Entlastung dar. Gleichzeitig wird hierdurch der allgemeine Finanzbedarf der Pflegeversicherung erheblich gesteigert. Dem könnte das zeitliche Hinausschieben von Pflegebedürftigkeit etwa durch gesundheitsbewusstes Verhalten, medikamentöse Behandlung, Präventionsmaßnahmen, Rehabilitation und technische Hilfsmittel entgegenwirken. Dennoch wird eine deutliche Zunahme der Zahl der Pflegebedürftigen nicht zu verhindern sein.
