Deutschland nach den USA zweitgrößter Forschungsstandort für multinationale Unternehmen

Abstract

In der zweiten Hälfte der 90er Jahre sind die Aufwendungen deutscher multinationaler Unternehmen für Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE) im Ausland stärker gestiegen als im Inland. In gleichem Maße steigerten ausländische Unternehmen ihre FuE-Aufwendungen in Deutschland, so dass die Bilanz ausgeglichen war. Inzwischen ist die Internationalisierung der FuE-Aktivitäten multinationaler Unternehmen aber zum Stillstand gekommen. Nach 2001 erhöhten deutsche Unternehmen ihre Forschungsaktivitäten nur noch im Inland. Ausländische Unternehmen haben seitdem ihre FuE-Aufwendungen in Deutschland im Gleichschritt mit den deutschen Unternehmen erweitert. Für eine Tendenz der "Abwanderung" von FuE aus Deutschland gibt es keine Anzeichen. Ausländische Unternehmen investierten hier im Jahr 2005 mit 12,6 Milliarden Euro mehr als doppelt soviel in FuE wie 1995 und damit über eine Milliarde Euro mehr als deutsche Unternehmen im Ausland.
