Medizintechnik: eine innovative Branche in regulierten Märkten

Abstract

In diesem Bericht werden wesentliche den Markt beeinflussende Faktoren und Parameter für die Diffusion innovativer Produkte der Medizintechnik dargestellt. Für die stark innovationsgetriebene und sehr heterogene Branche lassen sich grundlegende technologische Entwicklungstrends erkennen, aus denen Schlüsseltechnologien der Medizintechnik abgeleitet werden können. Technologieorientierte Unternehmen der Medizintechnik agieren dabei in regulierten nationalen Gesundheitsmärkten. Trotz europäischer Harmonisierung in den Zulassungsverfahren ist Europa im Vergleich zu den USA ein stark segmentierter Absatzmarkt. Ansatzpunkte zur Stärkung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der medizintechnischen Industrie in Deutschland sind weniger bei dem staatlich reglementierten Zulassungsverfahren als vielmehr in der Dauer von Entscheidungsprozessen bei der Leistungserstattung zu suchen. Darüber hinaus kann die Innovationskraft über gute Bedingungen im Bereich Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE) und hier vor allem über die Zusammenarbeit der Unternehmen mit der klinischen Forschung gesteigert werden; dies gilt auch für technologieorientierte Unternehmensgründungen.
