Internetnutzung in Deutschland: nach Boom nun langsamerer Anstieg erwartet

Abstract

Die Internetnutzung in Deutschland hat in den letzten acht Jahren einen rasanten Anstieg erlebt. Während es im Frühjahr 1995 in Deutschland gerade einmal 250 000 Internetnutzer gab, waren es im Mai 2003 bereits knapp 39 Millionen. Dies bedeutet, dass aktuell etwa 47 % der gesamten Bevölkerung in Deutschland online sind. Das Internet hat sich auch in den Unternehmen fest etabliert. Im April 2002 nutzten bereits 62 % der Firmen in Deutschland das Internet, mit weiterhin steigender Tendenz. Die Bedeutung des Internets als Wirtschaftsfaktor wird weiter zunehmen, da dieses Medium auch künftig immer stärker genutzt werden wird. Voraussichtlich wird die Zahl der Internetnutzer in Deutschland bis zum Jahre 2007 auf etwa 48 Millionen steigen. Das Internet ist inzwischen zu einem bedeutenden ökonomischen Faktor geworden. Durch das Internet sind neue Märkte und Unternehmen entstanden, und überall setzen sich zunehmend internetbasierte Prozessinnovationen durch. Damit trägt das Internet zum Produktivitäts- und Wirtschaftswachstum bei. Das Internet beeinflusst Kommunikations- und Informationsgewohnheiten sowie das Konsumentenverhalten; es hat darüber hinaus Auswirkungen auf die am Arbeitsmarkt nachgefragten Kompetenzprofile.
