Erneuerbare Energien: Biogas im Kommen?

Abstract

Die Erzeugung von Biogas aus organischen Substanzen und Abfällen zur Erzeugung von Strom und Heizwärme kann unter energie- und klimaschutzpolitischen Aspekten einen wichtigen Beitrag zu einer nachhaltigen Energieversorgung leisten. Die Verteuerung fossiler Energieträger sowie das Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz haben in Deutschland auch viele Verfahren auf Basis von Biomasse in den Bereich der Wirtschaftlichkeit gebracht. Dies könnte dazu beitragen, dass die Stromerzeugung aus Biogas, die bisher nur eine marginale Rolle spielt, erheblich an Bedeutung gewinnt. Jedenfalls wurden die Impulse bereits vom Markt aufgenommen, so dass in diesem Jahr mit einem sprunghaften Anstieg der Biogaserzeugung zu rechnen ist. Die von der Bundesregierung beschlossene Kürzung des Marktanreizprogramms zur Förderung von erneuerbaren Energien, von der auch Biogasanlagen betroffen sind, könnte jedoch aus dem Boom ein Strohfeuer machen und potentielle Investoren abschrecken.
