Anhaltend hohe Dynamik beim Export nach Nordamerika

Abstract

Begünstigt vom hohen Wirtschaftswachstum in der North American Free Trade Association (NAFTA) [1] war der deutsche Export dorthin im Jahre 2000 boomartig gestiegen. Die nominalen Werte in D-Mark übertrafen das Vorjahresniveau um 18 %, preisbereinigt dürften dies etwa 13 % gewesen sein. [2] Die im Spätherbst 2000 einsetzende Wachstumsverlangsamung in den USA [3] , dem wichtigsten Handelspartner in der NAFTA, hat die deutschen Exporte bisher nicht nennenswert beeinträchtigt. Die Lieferungen in die NAFTA haben im Winterhalbjahr 2000/2001 mit nahezu unvermindertem Tempo zugenommen. Dabei dürfte die hohe Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der deutschen Exportunternehmen eine Rolle gespielt haben. Diese haben insbesondere von der anhaltenden Schwäche des Euro gegenüber dem US-Dollar profitiert. Darüber hinaus konnten sie durch hohe Direktinvestitionen ihre Absatzchancen verbessern.
