Informations- und Kommunikationswirtschaft räumlich stark konzentriert

Abstract

Viele Städte und Regionen haben damit begonnen, in ihrer Regionalförderung einen Schwerpunkt auf die Ansiedlung von Produzenten der Informations- und Kommunikations-(IuK-)Technik sowie auf IuK-Dienstleister und Inhaltsproduzenten zu legen. Eine Analyse der Entwicklung dieser Wirtschaftszweige in Deutschland seit 1980 macht jedoch deutlich, dass nur DV-Dienstleister, die Werbewirtschaft sowie die Film- und Rundfunkwirtschaft über den gesamten Zeitraum zu den Wachstumsbranchen gehört haben. Gleichzeitig zeigt sich, dass Besonderheiten in der Produktion gerade in diesen Branchen, aber auch in neuen Bereichen wie der Multimedia-Produktion, zu einer starken regionalen Konzentration führen. Die größten Wachstumschancen haben die bereits etablierten Zentren der IuK-Wirtschaft. Förderstrategien mit dem Ziel, sich ebenfalls zu einem Medienstandort zu entwickeln und dadurch nennenswerte Arbeitsplatzgewinne zu erzielen, können deshalb nur in wenigen Regionen erfolgreich sein.
