Beschäftigungschancen durch Umweltschutz in Berlin

Abstract

In Berlin werden rund 50 000 Arbeitsplaetze durch den Umweltschutz ausgelastet. Das sind gut 3 vH aller Arbeitsplaetze. Zum groessten Teil ist der hohe Beschaeftigungsanteil Folge der fuer eine Grossstadt zwangslaeufig notwendigen Entsorgungsleistungen und nicht Ausdruck einer besonders guenstigen Wettbewerbsstellung Berlins als Standort umweltschutzrelevanter Produktionen. Das Potential der hohen Umweltschutzaufwendungen in der Stadt koennte aber zu einer Staerkung ihrer Stellung als Standort umweltschutzrelevanter Produktionen und damit fuer die Beschaeftigung genutzt werden. Anreize hierfuer liessen sich durch eine Verbindung regionaler Foerderinstrumente mit Verbesserungen der Transparenz des lokalen Umweltschutzmarktes geschaffen werden.
