Abstract

The adoption of HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) management systems in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is crucial for enhancing competitiveness, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. These systems help optimize production processes, reduce costs, and improve workplace safety and environmental efficiency. However, MSMEs face significant implementation challenges, including financial constraints, lack of training, and resistance to change. Additionally, limited infrastructure and restricted access to advanced technologies hinder their adoption in emerging economies. Integrating HSEQ systems directly contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). To overcome these barriers, government support and collaboration between the public and private sectors are essential. Effective HSEQ implementation can drive innovation, enhance public perception, and promote a more sustainable economic development model.
