Abstract

Целта на статията е да се отбележи и отдаде почит на паметта на забележителния професионалист – учен и практик – проф. д-р. Велеслав Гаврийски. Разработката се фокусира предимно върху най-значимите факти и събития от неговата биография. Освен солидното му образование в престижни университети у нас и в чужбина, в нея се подчертава фактът, че той е основният инициатор, съосновател и първи ръководител на единствената в България катедра по застрахователно дело. Подчертава се още, че проф. В. Гаврийски пръв разработва на българска основа теорията (икономиката) на застраховането, на презастраховането и на застрахователното право. В това отношение забележителна негова заслуга е написването на първите фундаментални университетски учебници и ръководства в тези направления. В знак на признателност за подпомагането и развитието на проспериращ национален застрахователен и осигурителен бизнес през 1996 г., в памет на забележителния учен, бе учредена Фондация „Проф. д-р Велеслав Гаврийски”.
