Credit Access and Financial Performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Dagoretti North Sub County, Kenya

Abstract

This study assessed the influence of access to credit on the financial performance of MSMEs in Dagoretti North Sub-County, Nairobi City County. Anchored on the Theory of Financial Inclusion, the research used quantitative methods and correlational design. The target population comprised licensed MSMEs, from which a sample was selected. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS, applying Pearson correlation and regression analysis. Results revealed a positive and significant relationship between credit access and financial performance. The study concludes that MSMEs benefit from strengthened financial inclusion and recommends supporting financial literacy, access to credit, and transaction convenience to enhance MSME performance.
