Abstract

This study investigates the impact of internal communication on employee engagement at the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA). The primary aim is to critically examine the internal communication system within ZICTA and assess its influence on employee motivation and productivity. A mixed-method research design was employed, integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The findings reveal a strong positive correlation between internal communication and employee engagement. However, several barriers were identified, including lack of timely communication, poor management responsiveness, and inconsistent messaging, which negatively affect employee engagement. The study concludes that effective internal communication is essential for enhancing employee engagement and overall organizational effectiveness. It recommends prioritizing timely communication, investing in modern communication technologies, implementing structured feedback mechanisms, and fostering a culture of inclusivity to strengthen communication processes and improve employee engagement outcomes.
