Integration of ICT and emerging technologies in teaching practice: A study at the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador

Abstract

This study analyzes the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and emerging technologies by teachers at the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador, Instituto de Mejoramiento Profesional del Magisterio (UPEL-IMPM), El Tigre Extension. The objective was to evaluate the level of knowledge, application of these tools, and barriers to their adoption in educational practice. Methodologically, the study employed a descriptive-explanatory design with a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire validated by experts and applied to a sample of 28 teachers. The results revealed that 64% of respondents have basic knowledge of emerging technologies, but only 39% use them in their teaching practice, citing major barriers such as lack of training, inadequate infrastructure, and time constraints. However, 86% perceive a positive impact of ICT on learning, and 93% expressed interest in receiving specific training. The study concludes that it is necessary to implement continuous training programs, strengthen technological infrastructure, and develop institutional policies that promote the integration of ICT and emerging technologies into educational processes, thereby fostering more innovative and effective teaching practices.
