Construcci—n social de la econom’a en organizaciones de la industria de servicios financieros en Chile y el Reino Unido

Abstract

Este art’culo examina la construcci—n social de organizaciones de servicios financieros en dos contextos sociales muy diferentes como son Chile y Reino Unido, observando como los agentes econ—micos actœan dentro de estructuras sociales, institucionales y culturales y, en base a entrevistas en profundidad en Santiago de Chile, Londres y Edimburgo, cubriendo una alta variedad de profesionales y posiciones. Los resultados muestran distintos procedimientos y rutinas laborales en Chile y Reino Unido, lo que parece explicarse por diferentes distribuciones de recursos y posiciones diferenciadas en el sistema financiero global. Si en Chile se utilizan mŽtodos exclusivos que seleccionan integrantes de la elite econ—mica local, en Reino Unido se utilizan mŽtodos de orientaci—n cientificista que apuntan a un gran nœmero de postulantes.
