L'effet des cegeps du Quebec sur le nombre total d'annees de scolarite

Abstract

Nous decrivons la reforme collegiale des annees 1960 au Québec et nous etudions l'effet initial de la creation des cegeps sur la scolarisation des jeunes Quebecois en la comparant a celle des jeunes Ontariens. Nous suivons les grandes tendances de la frequentation scolaire et de l'obtention de diplomes au niveau postsecondaire de 1960 a 2018. Puis nous estimons l'effet de l'arrivee des cegeps sur le nombre total d'annees de scolarite des premieres cohortes touchees. Une analyse de difference de differences appliquee aux hommes et aux femmes francophones et anglophones au moyen des microdonnees du Recensement de 2001 nous permet d'estimer que l'effet initial des cegeps a ete globalement positif et substantiel.
