El consumo de la ideología Consumista

Abstract

En el artículo se plantea el problema del consumo como problema ideológico. El consumidor no compra objetos solamente, como pudiera parecer a simple vista, porque le satisfacen alguna necesidad vital, sino porque el sistema lo convence de ello. El ser humano está ante una serie de retos que tienen que ver con la función distintiva, el status social, etc. Y esto no es un problema solamente de las personas adineradas, también los pobres y los sirvientes se esfuerzan por imitar al amo. Si el consumo se relacionara solo con la satisfacción de necesidades, la variedad de los objetos sería limitada, estaría de más el tropel de marcas, formas y colores que se multiplican casi al infinito.
