Pobreza: ¿exclusión social o inserción precaria?

Abstract

La pobreza es un fenómeno social que ha venido ganando visibilidad, gracias a un buen número de análisis de agencias multilaterales y nacionales, y a las investigaciones realizadas en espacios académicos; sin embargo, persisten dificultades teóricas y metodológicas para una aproximación pertinente a dicho fenómeno. En el presente trabajo se hace un aporte a la discusión conceptual sobre pobreza; para ello se confronta la noción tradicional de carencia de bienes materiales con una perspectiva que hace énfasis en la dimensión relacional. Se concluye que los pobres se caracterizan por enfrentar condiciones de inserción precaria en la vida económica, social y política, lo cual se constituye en una situación de aislamiento social.
