Emprendimiento social y cadenas globales de valor

Abstract

El emprendimiento social se distingue por partir de la iniciativa privada y estar en función de los intereses generales en el ámbito socioeconómico de una comunidad específica. Sin embargo, re-cientemente se han erigido numerosas polémicas en la literatura especializada sobre cadenas globales de valor, las cuales versan acerca de las posibilidades de escalonamiento y gobernanza en los territorios. Los principales organismos internacionales aducen que la inserción a estas estructuras constituye una oportunidad relevante para el proceso de desarrollo económico local. Con una evidencia empírica reveladora, esta teoría muestra formas nacionales, regionales y empresariales de ascenso industrial, y así prueba que seguir patrones de gobernanza específicos conduce hacia el desarrollo local de selectos espacios geográficos. Empero, se sostiene que las posibilidades de escalonamiento resultan de esfuerzos endógenos, lo cual subestima el poder de las empresas líderes en estas cadenas. El artículo concluye que los emprendimientos sociales se presentan como vías alternativas para el desarrollo local, pero que la inserción a cadenas globales de valor mediante el escalonamiento no supone un proceso de desarrollo natural y espontáneo.
