Abstract

Resumen:Este trabajo examina el desempeno del índice de desarrollo humano (IDH) del Brasil, así como sus indicadores de salud, educación y renta, a lo largo de los informes sobre desarrollo humano publicados por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD). El presente estudio busca completar este análisis haciendo un comparativo de la evolución del IDH del Brasil con el índice de los países de la América Latina y Caribe, entre 1975 y 2004, con base en un conjunto de estadísticas y metodologías pasible de comparación segundo el Informe sobre Desenvolvimiento Humano de 2004.Abstract:This paper examines the behavior of the Brazilian human development index (HDI), and studies its indicators of health, education and income the Human Development Reports (HDR) published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It also examined the tendencies of the human development by 2004 reports, comparing the Brazilian index with Latin America and the Caribbean countries, between 1975 and 2004, according to identical statistics and same procedures for the calculations of the Human Development Index.
