Transición demográfica: una dimensión empírica de la modernización en la Zona Andina de Narino

Abstract

El propósito fundamental de este artículo es analizar el comportamiento y las tendencias descritas por la transición demográfica en la zona andina de Narino, en los últimos anos. Es una investigación descriptiva, longitudinal y de tendencia, soportada en la revisión de las estadísticas sociales y demográficas arrojadas por los dos últimos ejercicios censales y por las estadísticas vitales del período 2000-2007 del Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE). Las conclusiones dejan ver que Pasto, Ipiales, Túquerres y Sandoná han entrado en un proceso de transición demográfica desigual, evidenciando que en la región la modernización socioeconómica convive con la tradición.
