Sueno y asignación de tiempo entre los estudiantes universitarios: el caso de la Universidad del Atlántico

Abstract

Un debate actual en la economía sostiene que el tiempo dedicado a dormir responde a incentivos económicos. En este artículo se investiga la demanda de sueno en una muestra de 88 estudiantes de pregrado de la Universidad del Atlántico en Barranquilla (Colombia). Se examina cómo estos estudiantes asignan su tiempo para diferentes actividades, qué factores determinan las horas que dedican a dormir y qué factores afectan su productividad asociada con su promedio académico. Los resultados revelan una relación inversa entre la cantidad de sueno dedicada cada noche por los estudiantes y su promedio académico. Adicionalmente, se encontró que las diferencias de edad, género, procedencia y antecedentes escolares también inciden en la asignación de tiempo y la productividad académica de estos estudiantes.
