Abstract

Abstract The objective of this article is to propose, with a sense of observation and study and the purpose of analysis at the territorial level, a classification methodology for the municipalities of the Pacific Region Of Colombia (PRC), taking into account their realities. It is also expected to contribute to the design of public policies, in relation to the prioritization and target of territorial resources. The method adapts the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) methodology for identifying intermediate cities (2015). This proposal emphasizes in socioeconomic, institutional and environmental characteristics, and also uses central tendency measures for indicators associated with each one of them. The proposed sub regionalization allowed identifying eight groups of municipalities, which share similarities in terms of the above-mentioned characteristics.
