Valoración económica del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas en Ipiales, Colombia

Abstract

Las investigaciones de valoración económica de templos o patrimonio religioso son escasas y, a la vez, sumamente necesarias, dada la importancia creciente del turismo religioso en ciertos territorios con apreciables ventajas competitivas estáticas susceptibles de explotación económica. En este artículo se cuantifica el valor económico del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas, Colombia (declarado bien de interés cultural nacional por el Ministerio de Cultura en 2006), mediante la adaptación y aplicación de los métodos de costo de viaje y valoración contingente, así como modelos de regresión de Poisson, logit y probit en la estimación de las probabilidades de visitar el templo y la voluntad de pago de los consumidores religiosos (DAP). La probabilidad de visitar el Santuario es explicada por la DAP y la formación posgradual del visitante y, a su vez, la DAP es determinada por el gasto en consumo final, el número de visitas realizadas y la condición de asalariado del turista. Las regresiones logit y probit predicen una probabilidad de pago muy significativa de 97.5 %.
