Movimientos sociales y desarrollo económico en Chocó, Colombia

Abstract

El objetivo de este documento es estudiar la relación entre las peticiones de los movimientos sociales en el departamento del Chocó, Colombia, y las condiciones de desarrollo socioeconómico del territorio. La estrategia de investigación incluyó una revisión histórica de las peticiones de las protestas y un análisis de la evolución de los principales indicadores económicos, sociales y de finanzas públicas locales en el departamento. Los resultados indicaron que las peticiones de las protestas efectivamente coinciden con las condiciones de rezago en la región. Adicionalmente, se encontró un aumento importante en las transferencias del Gobierno nacional al departamento y a sus municipios en los últimos anos, pero una baja eficiencia en el manejo de los recursos disponibles.
