Capacidad de generación de empleo en el cuidado de infantes en el Valle del Cauca, Colombia: Un ejemplo a partir de los Nuevos Yacimientos de Empleo

Abstract

Empleando el enfoque de los NuevosYacimientos de Empleo (NYE) en elartículo se realiza una valoraciónen términos del potencial de empleogenerado en la actividad cuidado deinfantes (menores entre 0 y 4 anos)en el Valle del Cauca, a través de dosalternativas; a) número de empleospotenciales generados medianteempleadas en el hogar, o en centrosde cuidado (guarderías infantiles) yb) número de empleos potencialesgenerados para personal docenteen instituciones externas al hogarespecializadas en educación inicialy cuidado infantil. Los cálculos, teniendopresente sólo la población deinfantes cuyos madres o padres manifiestanuna demanda insatisfechapara su cuidado, arrojan un potencialde creación de 25.356 empleos nuevospara trabajadoras en el hogar o eninstituciones de cuidado infantil y untotal de 4.057 plazas para docentes encentros de educación inicial y cuidadoinfantil.
