Descomposiciones de los cambios en la pobreza en Colombia 2002-2012

Abstract

La reducción de la pobreza que se presentó en América Latina en la última década fue resultado de una confluencia de aspectos, entre los que se destacan el crecimiento económico, el mercado laboral y el rol de sus instituciones, y la difusión de programas sociales basados en transferencias de ingreso. El objetivo de este artículo es realizar descomposiciones de los cambios en la pobreza que ocurrieron en Colombia entre 2002 y 2012 y analizar cómo influyeron en esa tendencia factores como el crecimiento, la redistribución, el cambio demográfico, los niveles educativos, la situación del mercado laboral y el ingreso no laboral. Se encuentra que los componentes principales asociados a la reducción de la pobreza son el crecimiento medio de los ingresos, el incremento del ingreso laboral y, recientemente, el aumento en los niveles de ocupación y los ingresos no laborales.
