Vote anti-mondialisation : des importations qui le favorisent, des exportations qui le freinent

Abstract

La mondialisation commerciale modifie-t-elle les votes des Français par le biais de son impact sur le marché du travail ? Depuis l’élection présidentielle de 1981, la part des votes qui s’expriment à l’encontre de la mondialisation a nettement progressé en France. Une part de cette progression est imputable à l’accroissement de la concurrence induite par la hausse des importations de biens. C’est vrai pour les importations de biens finals, mais pas pour les importations de biens intermédiaires, une plus forte exposition de l’emploi national à ces importations, complémentaires de certains pans de l’activité économique, réduisant au contraire la part des votes opposés à la mondialisation. De même, les exportations ont contenu la montée des votes antimondialisation via leurs effets potentiellement bénéfiques sur le tissu économique des territoires concernés.
