Abstract

Im Rahmen der ifo Jahresversammlung am 26. Juni 2026 hielt Dr. Leonhard Birnbaum Vorstandsvorsitzender der E.ON SE, die Keynote „Es muss sich alles ändern, damit es bleibt, wie es ist“. Der Beitrag basiert auf diesem Vortrag, zieht eine Bilanz der ersten Halbzeit der Energiewende und wirft einen Blick auf die zweite. Diese werde anspruchsvoller. Es gehe um die Dekarbonisierung von Wärme und Industrie, es gehe um das Gesamtsystem. Dafür brauche es neue Regeln. Die aktuellen Gesetzesvorhaben seien ein Anfang in die richtige Richtung. Und wenn es zugleich gelänge, auch in der Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftspolitik die notwendigen Reformen entschlossen anzugehen, könne daraus neuer Schwung für den Wirtschaftsstandort Deutschland entstehen.
