Schneller zum Hochschulabschluss? Relatives Leistungsfeedback und Studienerfolg

Abstract

Überlange Studiendauern verursachen Kosten für Studierende, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Doch wie lässt sich die Zeit bis zum Abschluss ohne tiefgreifende Reformen der Studienstrukturen verkürzen? Experimente mit über 1 600 Bachelorstudierenden zeigen: Wer regelmäßig über den eigenen Studienfortschritt im Vergleich zu Kommiliton*innen informiert wird, schließt das Studium früher ab und erzielt bessere Noten, bei gleichbleibenden Abschlussquoten, und ohne dabei mehr Stress oder geringere Studienzufriedenheit zu erleben. Insgesamt erhält jede*r siebte Absolvierende das Bachelorzeugnis ein Semester früher. Entscheidend ist jedoch die Art der Leistungsrückmeldung: Positives Feedback führt zu deutlich früheren Studienabschlüssen, Feedback, das nicht auf überdurchschnittliche Leistungen hinweist, kann mit geringerem Studienerfolg verbunden sein. Richtig eingesetzt ist relatives Leistungsfeedback damit ein wirksames Instrument zur Verbesserung des Studienerfolgs, und dies bei Kosten von nur etwa 14 Euro pro Person.
