Fracking in Deutschland: Zwischen Versorgungssicherheit, Klimapolitik und gesellschaftlicher Akzeptanz

Abstract

Infolge der Energiekrisen 2022 und 2026 wurde die Frage nach einer möglichen Förderung von Erdgas aus nicht konventionellen Lagerstätten (Fracking/Schiefergas) in Deutschland neu aufgeworfen. Der Artikel adressiert den potenziellen Beitrag von Fracking zur Versorgungssicherheit vor dem Hintergrund wirtschaftlicher und klimapolitischer Aspekte. Die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse: Kurzfristig könnte Fracking von Schiefergasvorkommen voraussichtlich nur einen geringen Beitrag zur Gasversorgung in Deutschland leisten, trotz technisch vorhandener, beträchtlicher Ressourcenvorkommen. Eine kommerzielle Produktion wäre wohl erst mittelfristig möglich und mit erheblichen rechtlichen, administrativen und politischen Hürden verbunden. Die wirtschaftliche Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Technologie hängt von Förderkosten, globalen mittel- und langfristigen Gaspreisen, der prognostizierten Nachfrageentwicklung und sehr wahrscheinlich wirtschaftspolitischer Unterstützung ab.
