Mehr Globalisierung, mehr Geschlechtergerechtigkeit?

Abstract

Trotz der Fortschritte in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten sind Frauen und Männer in vielen Ländern der Welt rechtlich noch immer nicht gleichgestellt. Eine neue Studie untersucht, ob Globalisierung zu mehr rechtlicher Gleichstellung von Frauen und Männern führt. Das Ergebnis: Eine Zunahme der internationalen ökonomischen Integration um etwa ein Drittel des Globalisierungsindex, vergleichbar mit dem Unterschied zwischen Indonesien und den USA, verbessert die rechtliche Gleichstellung von Frauen und Männern im Durchschnitt um rd. 12%. Auf der Skala des Weltbankindex Women, Business and the Law entspricht dies einem spürbaren Fortschritt bei den gesetzlichen Rechten von Frauen. Der Anstieg lässt sich vor allem auf die tatsächliche wirtschaftliche Globalisierung – Handel, Investitionen sowie internationale Verbindungen – eines Landes zurückführen und weniger auf die institutionelle De-jure-Globalisierung.
