Steigende Wohnkosten belasten das System der sozialen Sicherung

Abstract

Trotz einer sinkenden Zahl an Leistungsempfängern im SGB II sind die Zahlungen für die Kosten der Unterkunft seit 2015 um etwa 3 Mrd. Euro jährlich gestiegen. Gleichzeitig hat die durchschnittliche Wohnungsgröße je Bedarfsgemeinschaft abgenommen. Als Ursache für die Kostensteigerungen kommt deshalb vor allem der Anstieg der Mietpreise in Betracht. Die Krise auf dem Wohnungsmarkt ist damit im System der sozialen Sicherung angekommen. Nötig ist eine Belebung des Neubaus in den Ballungszentren. Dazu müssten Anreize für die Kommunen verbessert werden, damit diese ausreichend Flächen für den Neubau von Mehrfamilienhäusern ausweisen.
