ifo Local Election Lab (ifo LOCEL) – Georeferenzierung der Bundestagswahlbezirke für die 400 größten Städte in Deutschland

Abstract

Das ifo Local Election Lab (ifo LOCEL) referenziert für 354 der 400 größten deutschen Städte die Geometrien der Wahlbezirke bei der Bundestagswahl 2021 und verbindet diese Bezirke mit lokalen sozio-ökonomischen Daten. Wahlbezirke sind die kleinste administrative Einheit, für die Wahlergebnisse erfasst und veröffentlicht werden. In der Vergangenheit war die geografische Lage der Wahlbezirke gänzlich unbekannt – selbst für die Bundeswahlleiterin. Das hat die Forschung dahingehend beschränkt, dass Analysen auf der höherliegenden Stadtebene durchgeführt werden mussten. Dabei wird jedoch die starke Heterogenität des Wahlverhaltens innerhalb von großen Städten ignoriert. Mit unserem Datensatz können wir zum ersten Mal für 24 000 Wahlbezirke und 47 % der deutschen Bevölkerung das Wahlverhalten feingliedrig innerhalb von Städten analysieren.
