Klimawandel und mentale Gesundheit: Korrelation versus Kausalität und die Rolle von Big Data

Abstract

Die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf die physische Gesundheit sind ausreichend erfasst und quantifiziert worden. Der mentalen Gesundheit und dem Wohlbefinden wurden bisher nur wenig Aufmerksamkeit zugewandt. Gleichzeitig sind die Ausgaben für therapeutische Zwecken allein in Deutschland seit 1992 um 321% gestiegen, so dass die wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf die mentale Gesundheit und das Wohlbefinden zunehmend an Bedeutung gewinnen. Es gibt jedoch nur wenige wirtschaftliche Studien dazu. Ein Grund dafür könnte die mangelnde Verfügbarkeit von Daten sein. „Big Data“ könnte bei der Quantifizierung dieser Auswirkungen eine Rolle spielen.
