Messe München Generates Sales of EUR 3.3 Billion in a “Normal” Event Year

Author

Abstract

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, numerous trade fairs were canceled in the first half of 2020, and from March onwards almost all events were canceled. If no more events can be held in Munich this year, this will result in a loss of up to EUR 2.4 billion in sales for the German economy. In a “normal” event year, Munich trade fairs and congresses in Germany generate sales of around EUR 3.3 billion, secure around 27,300 jobs, and generate tax revenue of EUR 646 million.
