Business Surveys in Focus: Light at the End of the Tunnel for the German Economy

Abstract

The ifo Business Climate Index for Germany rose significantly in June. However, some special questions show that large parts of the German economy, above all the travel and hospitality industry, are still struggling hard with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Low demand in the manufacturing sector – especially in the automotive industry – is also having a significant negative impact on business.
